Recently I had the chance to read Millennial Money Makeover, written by fellow blogger Conor Richardson.
I actually just started to get to know Conor not long ago. He's a CPA and I was impressed with his extensive financial knowledge. He’s down to earth and definitely has his priorities straight.
Geared at people in their 20s and 30s (like myself), his book outlines a total of 6 steps for people to transform their fiscal outlook and flip their finances around - in the right direction of course :)
There are millions of personal finance books out there - so why the heck should you read this one?
I’ll tell you why.
1) You Will Learn to Prioritize What’s Actually Important in Life
Chances are you and I are pretty similar. We’ve probably both got jobs to perform well at, errands to run, family and friends to spend time with, bills to pay, Netflix to watch, dinner to make (if we’re feeling up to it), and long list of other things to do.
It’s an amazing feat if we can stay sane with everything going on, much less focus on things like our net worth, budgeting, or how many payments are left on student loans or car payments.
In his book, Conor goes through and helps you look at and build your financial life from the ground up.
In short, he teaches you how to prioritize what really matters in life and actually live the “rich life”.
2) It Provides an Actionable Plan
Having all the financial knowledge in the world won’t make you a millionaire. One of my favorite quotes about this is by Derek Sivers.
He said that, “If more information was the answer, then we’d all be billionaires with perfect abs.”
There are too many books out there with lots of knowledge but no actual, clear path to help you get where you need to go!
Conor outlines that path with real world examples and a plan you can actually follow.
If you follow the steps outlined in his book, then you’ll learn things like how to pay off your student loan debt quickly or how to create the financial environment that works for you and sets your future self up for success.
3) This is a Personal Finance Book You’ll Actually Enjoy Reading
Let’s be honest, when you think of most personal finance books you’ve read, they’ve probably been a super dry read with a myriad of graphs and outdated statistics. However, and thankfully, this is not the case for Millennial Money Makeover.
Each page will keep you entertained while providing great, actionable knowledge.
Once I started reading this book, I finished reading it less than 24 hours later! That’s pretty impressive, especially considering the fact that most books I read take me a month or more to finish.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading Millennial Money Makeover and give it a 5 out of 5 stars. This is a book that will actually help you prioritize the things that matter in your life.
It actually gives you an actionable plan in a fun and enjoyable way. You can grab a copy of the book at Amazon and give your money the makeover it needs.
